It is with deep sadness that we announce that Chui Kam Lee passed away peacefully on April 30, 2020 at the age of 101. She is reunited with her son, Nor Ney Tam. She was the devoted and loving mother-in-law of Ying Hung Tam. Beloved grandmother of Melinda (Harry), Stephen (Amy), Terence (Jan) and Norman. Cherished great-grandmother of Brendan, Michelle, Amanda, Megan, Lindsey, Olivia, Addison and Mila.
Born in Toishan, China, she lived through the challenges of wars and overcame many hardships. Her determination and unrelenting work ethic afforded her and her family a better life in Canada. She lived her life with grace and class and she taught everyone that nothing in the world was more important than family. Her relationship with her daughter-in-law was beyond compare. Their loving relationship began in Hong Kong when Ying Hung was a sixteen-year-old girl who was welcomed with open arms into her new family. Everyone who met them assumed that they were mother and daughter. She also played a large role in the upbringing of her grandchildren and they are extremely lucky that she was a constant part of their childhood and later on, their adult lives.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the dedicated and caring staff at the CHSLD Saint-Joseph-de-la Providence.
Due to current circumstances, a private service will be held for immediate family only. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Canadian Red Cross COVID-19 Response Fund.
